About Dr. Schwartz

Background

Dr. Schwartz is an experienced chiropractic physician who has over 25 years of training, practice experience and teaching experience in neuromuscular therapy, myofascial therapy, and rehabilitative exercise in addition to his chiropractic doctorate.

Dr. Joel, as he likes to be called, was raised in East Brunswick, NJ and graduated from East Brunswick High School. After graduating from the University of Oregon with a degree in Human Anatomy and Biomechanics, he attended Western States Chiropractic College where he received his doctor of chiropractic degree.

After graduating Chiropractic College, Dr. Joel was appointed assistant professor of gross anatomy at Western States Chiropractic College. He also instructed in chiropractic technique at the same school. Dr. Joel has spent over two thousand hours in the study and teaching of human anatomy through cadaver dissection. He also has taught anatomy and physiology at massage schools, community colleges, the University of Oregon.

In addition to numerous individual seminars over the past 25 years: Dr. Schwartz has taken a year of postgraduate training in rehabilitative exercise through Los Angeles Chiropractic College.

 

Ongoing Practice Experience, Education and Teaching

In 1997, Dr Joel moved back to New Jersey. He practiced full time in Old Bridge and East Brunswick until recently (October 2009) when the practice moved to Monroe Township.

Dr. Joel is the developer of the Clinical Massage and Exercise Training and the Orthopedic and Medical Massage Training. This is a series of seminars that teach skill development to soft tissue therapists who wish to become excellent at treating muscle, joint and nerve problems.

Dr. Joel is the author of The Rotator Cuff Exercise Manual.

Concurrently with his patient care responsibilities he is a frequent lecturer to local community groups on the subjects of back injuries, neck injuries, sports injuries, rehabilitative exercise, arthriitis, healthy eating and wellness.
