Dr. Schwartz is an experienced functional medicine doctor and chiropractic physician who has over 30 years of training, practice experience and teaching experience. He has advanced training and certifications including: AFMC- Advanced Functional Medicine Clinician, DACNB- Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Neurologists, FABVR- Fellow of the American Board of Vestibular Rehabilitation. He is also certified as ReCODE 2.0 practitioner, which is the first method to demonstrate improvement and in some cases reversal of cognitive decline/ Alzheimer's dementia.
As a Functional Medicine Clinician and Functional Neurologist, his primary focus is to find and treat the cause of medical problems. The principles of finding the cause and doing no harm are central to Functional Medicine. Please watch the videos and read the pages/ blog posts on our website. They will familiarize you with the depth of analysis of Functional Medicine and how it is applied to problems you may have.
After graduating Chiropractic College, Dr. Joel was appointed assistant professor of gross anatomy at Western States Chiropractic College. He also instructed in chiropractic technique at the same school. Dr. Joel has spent over two thousand hours in the study and teaching of human anatomy through cadaver dissection. He also has taught anatomy and physiology at massage schools, community colleges, the University of Oregon.
Ongoing Practice Experience, Education and Teaching
In 1997, Dr Joel moved back to New Jersey. He practiced full time in Old Bridge and East Brunswick until recently (October 2009) when the practice moved to Monroe Township.
Dr. Joel is the developer of the Clinical Massage and Exercise Training and the Orthopedic and Medical Massage Training. This is a series of seminars that teach skill development to soft tissue therapists who wish to become excellent at treating muscle, joint and nerve problems.
Dr. Joel is the author of The Rotator Cuff Exercise Manual.
Concurrently with his patient care responsibilities he is a frequent lecturer to local community groups on the subjects of back injuries, neck injuries, sports injuries, rehabilitative exercise, arthritis, healthy eating and wellness.
